Bartram Trail- Rabun Bald, GA

Trail information

Our hike today was on the Bartram Trail starting at The trail crossing on Hale Ridge Rd. near the GA/NC border Scaly Mountain area. It was not a good day for views due to heavy fog and occasional rain

Directions

Take Hwy. 441 N from Clayton, GA through Dillard, GA and turn right onto GA 246 / NC 106 toward Highlands, NC. Drive about 7 miles and turn right at the Scaly Mtn. Ski Slope. Go a couple of miles and turn left onto Hale Ridge road. Drive a mile or so and you will see the trail crossing sign on your right. Another beautiful hiking day! Cloudy with fog and occasional rain. Total hike today - 7 miles

  • Early into the hike, we passed by this nice waterfalls.
  • The Bartram trai is nicely maintained in this section with foot-bridges over each creek.
  • There are nice rock outcroppings along the way.
  • This the the marker at the base of Rabun Bald. We decided to turn around here since there was very poor visiblilty.
  • Views were very limited but it was still a beautiful day for a hike!.
