Ladyslipper Trail North Loop
near Mount Airy, GA
After two weeks of cold, icy and snowy weather, we were blessed with much sunnier and warmer weather with 45°F to 70°F temperatures. Considering reports of portions of the trail having muddy washouts on a couple of steep inclines, we found the trail to be dry and overall quite good. Yes, there were dry accumulated leaves in those washouts requiring extra care, but it was as bad as expected. Most of the rest of the trail was an easy walk on a soft bed of leaves. There were a few nice views of the surrounding mountains through the leafless canopy. This hike was just a great break from the winter on very nice trail. Today's hikers: Jack Treadman, Ken Kellerman & Cutie Pie, Edwin Pruitt, Gerald Richardson, Allyson Aldrich, Matt Henderson & Toby, Bobbie Broussard, Beth McDonald, Lynn Hotle, Eric Hotle, Angela Evans, Jenny Bell, Lynn Steele, Sue Vaughn, Alicia Morris & Ginger and Mike Bell.
