Chattooga River Trail - Licklog Creek & Pigpen Falls

Distance
8.7 mi
Climbing
548 ft
Difficulty
Moderate
Type
Out & Back

Overall this is a nice trail with good views of the Chattooga River and two beautiful water falls. There is a 1/4 mile section of passable blowdown at 0.6 miles into the hike. The trail itself has few roots and rocks with a fair amount of leave and pine needle litter along the way making it comfortable walking. Being early Spring, there were several areas of Trillium and other numerous wildflowers making for a interesting hike. It is too bad the blowdown has not be cut out since it has been present for the past 3 years. The temperature was between 67 & 83 degrees, a bit warmer than average for this time of year. Our hiking distance was 8.7 miles rather than the 7.7 miles listed in the trail description.
