Preceding this hike we visited Mont Blanc. We rode the cable car up Mont Blanc with its beautiful views as it first climbed to Plan de l’Aiguille (7600 feet) and then to Aiguille du Midi (12,604 feet). Carlota rearranged the schedule such that we visited on a clear day to enjoy the panorama, simply one of the best in the Alps, with views of mountains as far as the eye can see. We even caught a glimpse of the Matterhorn! This was a short hike from the middle cable lift station of Mont Blanc, Plan de l'Aiguille, to the beautiful glacial Lac Bleu Lake. While a short hike, it was moderately difficult due to the very irregular, large and small, rocky trails and a small section of crusty snow to cross.

  • Lac Bleu (Blue Lake) is blue, but also so clear it almost blends with its glacial background.
