The Bartram Trail - Courthouse Gap - Windy Gap - Rabun County, GA
Trail information
This portion of the Bartram Trail is accessed from Courthouse Gap Rd. using a connector trail up to Courthouse Gap. From here the trail travels up and continues to Windy Gap on rolling terrain mostly uphill. Nice mountain views are abundant along the trail during the winter months. Trail difficulty is mostly strenuous due to lots of elevation gain on the way to Windy Gap. Directions
Take Warwoman road out of Clayton for .8 miles, and you'll see a sign for Pinnacle Camp. Take a left turn off Warwoman Road onto Pinnacle Dr. Follow that road all the way, 1.1 miles, passing the camp, to Courthouse Gap Road. Take a right, and go .2 miles until you see a gravel road, with parking areas beneath power lines. Park there, and walk up that road about a tenth of a mile to the access trail on the left. Getting ready to hike at Courthouse Gap Rd. From the parking spot at the power lines, you walk up the gravel road for about .2 miles and turn left onto the connector trail. Headed up the connector trail to Courthouse Gap. Arriving at Courthouse Gap on the Bartram Trail. Trail sign at Courthouse Gap. We turn left toward Rabun Bald. We head up one of several significant climbs. Nice mountain views all along the trail! Yes, it was cold! Another great day for a hike! We arrive at Windy Gap at the 4.25 mile mark.
