Lady Slipper Trail, GA
Today's hike was on the Lady Slipper Trail in the Lake Russell State Wildlife Management Area Park, near Cornelia, GA. We hiked from Nancytown Lake parking area over to the trail-head and then did the 6.2 mile loop. Total hike approx. 7 miles
Trail information
One of three trails in the Lake Russell Park area. The Lady Slipper is probably the least used of the three trails. It is a rolling trail through a mixed forest of pine, oak, hickory, beech, etc
Directions
On U.S. 123 East of Cornelia, near the Mt. Airy, GA railroad bridge, turn onto the Lake Russell Recreation Area access road. Drive about 2.5 miles to the parking lot at Nancytown Lake. Another great day for a hike! Partly cloudy, and cool. Hiking distance - 7 miles Difficulty - Moderately easy but the trail is not well marked at key turns. WILD

Pileated woodpecker, Downy woodpecker, Crow, Hawk, Ruby Crowned Kinglet, Chickadee, White breasted nuthatch, Brown headed nuthatch, Flock of 21 geese OTHER FAUNA: White-tailed Deer
