Chattooga River Hwy. 76 Bridge
Trail information
Today's hike was on the Chattooga River Trail starting at the parking lot at the Hwy. 76 bridge and hiking northward on the trail. Nice trail with mild elevation changes and outstanding river views. Total round trip hiking distance - 8 mi
Directions
Take Hwy. 76 E from Clayton, GA to the SC state line. (Chattooga River) Another great day for a hike!
Conditions
Mostly fair, very windy and cold with temperatures ranging from the low 30's to mid-40's!

Our parking lot for today. (Hwy. 76 bridge) Rock marker at the Hwy. 76 parking lot. Here, we see the remains of the old Hwy. 76 bridge. We had to rock hop across this creek. Here, Dick seems to be carrying this large tree across. The early wildflowers are starting to bloom! Trailing Arbutus (Epigaea repens) Lunch break! The beautiful Chattooga River! Bull Sluice rapids - one of the reasons they call it a "wild and scenic" river! The OFHC gang for today's hike.
