Broad River Trail - GA

Trail information

Our hike today was on the southern-most trail in our range. Located west of Toccoa, GA, the trail is in the Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area

Directions

Take Hwy. 123 west out of Toccoa and turn onto Ayersville Road which is near the entrance to Patterson Pump, Inc. Follow this road for less than a mile and turn left onto F.S. Road 87. Drive about 2 miles past the game checking station and look for the trail head on the right. Another beautiful hiking day! Clear skies and breezy with temps ranging from 32-48 degrees F. This is a very nice woodland trail with nice views of Dick's Creek and Broad River. (Rolling but moderately easy)

  • The trail is well-marked with signs at each end and blue markers along the way.
  • Early in the hike, we pass by some nice views of Dick's Creek.
  • It is a very nice walk in the woods on a well-marked and maintained trail!
  • A beautiful day in the Mountains.

  • At this point on the trail you have to tip-toe along rocks (for a short distance) on the edge of the river .
  • Here, we stand on the bridge at the end of the trai.
  • The most unusual feature along the trail is this hemlock tree that has grown into a circle!
